Dholera Metro Rail Project

The Gujarat government has undertaken an ambitious rapid metro rail project to enhance connectivity between the smart city of Dholera SIR, Ahmedabad, and Gandhinagar. This metro system will not only improve access to the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) but will also be crucial in ensuring the success of the upcoming Dholera International Airport.

As part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) master plan, a proposal for a high-speed metro rail connecting Ahmedabad, Dholera, and Gandhinagar was submitted and subsequently approved by the central government. The project aims to strengthen regional connectivity while establishing a modern urban transport system. This metro network will seamlessly link Gujarat’s key urban centers, the international airport, major railway stations, and bus depots, significantly enhancing accessibility and mobility.

Integrating the metro rail with Dholera International Airport is expected to play a pivotal role in the airport’s success, making travel more efficient for passengers and boosting economic activity in the region. The high-speed metro will serve as a vital infrastructure component, supporting the vision of Dholera as a world-class smart city with seamless transportation facilities.

The Dholera Metro Rail project will be executed in two phases to enhance connectivity and urban mobility. The first phase will establish a 61.55 km metro corridor linking Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, while the second phase will extend the network from Gandhinagar to Dholera Smart City via GIFT City, covering an additional 38.45 km. In total, the metro will span 100 km, creating a seamless transportation link across key urban and economic hubs.

Designed to revolutionize transit in Dholera, the metro rail system will play a crucial role in the city's development.
